August Open Day
Well it looks like the gods have smiled upon us for this years open day , going by the june one anything would be better.
No rain macks or brollys were nessarsary this time , ok maybe the brolly to shade yourself from the sun .
Not sure what's happening in this pic of Gareth , obviously we will have to re-word the stencils to NO STEP OR BELLY ! , but it could be the new lucky dip stall "did you find Tony's prop and shaft in there ? " .
And in this one , well i will let you make up your own opinion of what the thoughts to the cameraman are.
All in all we had a great day and it would not have been possible without the help and support of the members who attended on the saturday to set up the tents and make eveything ready for the sunday, and the ladies who provided there time and tea, coffee, cakes, buns, chips, pies, peas and every thing else , well done ladies.
07/07/2012 update for 2012 august open day
Not long now to our next open day , so lets hope the weather will be more favourable .
more updates soon.
The major event in the GMBC year is the open day in August which is advertised in the local press. This year the weather was fine, warm and dry and there were a large number of visitors from Goole and surrounding areas. Eight other model boat clubs attended and there were many fine models displayed on the club stands and on the water.
A view from the top of the Apex lighthouse
Howard Mains fine model of the tug Canning, still under construction but looking good so far.
An excellent example of the Mountfleet kit Cruiser towing a pair of lighters.
Minor adjustments being made to an excellent model of a Hull trawler
Of course the grand finale of any GMBC open day is the raft race. This years was as chaotic as ever with the wind direction continually changing resulting in the race being restarted several times before the rafts got away from the start.
